The territory of the Denomination of Origin Monterrei is characterised by a temperate Mediterranean climate, with considerable temperature fluctuations of up to 30ºC during ripening.
Soils

In our vineyards, in the Monterrei region there are three soil types:
Slatey and schistose soils, ideal for dry periods.
Slatey and schistose, ideal during dry periods, which provide aromas in red wines. Granitic and sandy: coming from the degradation of granitic rocks, they have low pH, suitable for white wines. Sedimentary: complex due to the mixture of materials.

Architecture
Bodegas Daniel Fernández has a building that simulates the Torre del Homenaje of the Monterrei Castle itself.
Installations
In the heart of Monterrei, the estate belongs to the sub-zone of the Monterrei Valley.
The 4 hectares of our own vineyards give fruit to each and every one of the grapes used in the production of our wines, giving them a great personality.
D.O. Monterrei
The D.O. Monterrei takes its Galician name from the Castilian word Monterrey, “the king’s mountain”.
It covers the grapes and wines from the region comprising Verín, Monterrei, Oimbra and Castrelodo Val, located in the southeastern part of the province of Ourense.
